Sox Win. Beat Oakland 4-1 Behind Contreras

A very nice win for the White Sox over the Oakland A’s. All White Sox fans know what a house of horrors Oakland has been since 2001 for the Sox, but at least for one night, the White Sox got the better of the A’s. Jose Contreras appeared to pitch a bit timidly, not trusting his fastball as DJ pointed out on the broadcast, but he pitched well enough to give up only 1 run, a gigantic improvement from his outing on Opening Day, when his ERA became a ******** 63.00.

Good offense from Thome with a solo shot to dead center, and just as I was remembering that homer Podsednik hit off Lidge in Game 2 of the 2005 World Series, sure enough, as if on cue, he pulled one into the seats in right. A solid game overall…. solid starting pitching, good bullpen work, and just enough offense…
