It seems that the Pale Hose cannot get a break. If the pitching is decent, then the offense struggles. If the offense is clicking, the the pitching is suspect. It was very difficult to watch last night's game. You figure with a 7-4 lead that the bullpen would come in and shutdown the opponent's offense. Clutch hitting has been terrible, and the pitching is slowly erroding. I agree that this might be turning into '07. Buehrle is on the mound tonight, so lets hope the Staff Ace can get us a win. - http://bradcws.mlblogs.com

what do you think about ozzie leaving Paulie in to hit with two outs, a runner in scoring position, and joe crede and aj able to play (as far as i know b/c we did pull toby hall). Paulie had gone 0 for 5 before coming to bat in the 9th. I recall a similar situation during friday’s game as well (however the ranger’s lead was much larger on friday). I think this was a poor managing decision by ozzie.

I hope I develop an appreciation of Steve Stone. Right now I’m sceptical since I know him only from hearing him on the radio, where he sounds like a total Cubs guy. I rarely hear him talk about the Sox, and when he does, he offers little in the way of novel insights. I thought that what Chris Singleton brought to the table was youth (relatively speaking) and a recent history as a Sox player (also relatively speaking). Stone seems to me like a Cubs reject who won’t be a complement to the great (in my opinion) Farmio. I hope I’m wrong, because I listen to just about every game I don’t attend, and listening to the Sox games is something I don’t want to give up.

Baseball Prospectus has RHP Fautino de los Santos as the only Five-Star prospect in the White Sox system.

Gio Gonzalez is a Four-Star prospect.

John Sickels of MiLB has Gonzalez and de los Santos as #1 & #2 prospects in the org.

Baseball America also has Gonzalez and de los Santos ranked as the top two.

All three have Sweeney in the 6-7 range.

On top of that, as much as I like Swisher’s saberiffic game…I doubt he can singlehandedly drag the White Sox out of LAST PLACE in the single most important offensive stat OBP.

The Chisox had an unearthly .318 OBP (48 points off the Yankees-42 away from the Red Sox and 20 off the league average.

One player is not going to change this much…it is a systematic thought process of anti-OBP throughout the org. that has led to this point.

The White Sox a year older and a year unwiser…will again win around 72-75 games.

Presently constructed, of course.

Williams has more time left in which to screw up further.
