Worth the Wait...Sox Win on Thome's Walk-off Homer in 15 Innings (Game 141, '08)

The Sox won this game after squandering so many opportunities in extras.  Still, Thome finally came through when it counted.  Before his big home run, I was frustrated watching the Sox against Scott Shields, consistently taking his first ball fast ball, while swinging at the second pitch breaking ball and getting down in the count 0 and 2 constantly.  I would have thought someone would try actually swinging at the first pitch, but that never happened.  I'm not sure why it didn't happen, but I hope in the future should a similar situation arise, adjustments will be made.

The Sox have picked up another game on the Twins, who lost to the Tigers in the dome.  I was quite surprised as I watched that game just before the Sox game.  I'm not a Tiger's fan, but I cheered them and Maggs on today.  Sox will try for a sweep tomorrow.  That is a position I honestly did not believe the Sox would be in when I saw this series on the schedule.  I'm glad I was wrong...
