Sox Beat Yankees With 6-2 Win (Game 150, '08)
The White Sox got a big win tonight behind a strong outing by Gavin Floyd and some very good offense off Andy Pettitte. Konerko came back and contributed right away, going 2-for-4 on the night. It was good to see a no-error game and minimal use of the bullpen, with Thornton going 1 inning and Jenks closing the door. With the way the bullpen has been going, it looks like this is the way the Sox are going to have to win - with strong starting pitching going deep into games, with minimal use of the pen. I realize you cannot avoid using the pen, but these guys need to execute as soon as they are given the chance. The Sox don't have the time nor the luxury to wait for them to work out their problems in critical game situations. I think the Sox will have to continue to put offensive pressure on the opposition every night if possible. Everyone needs to pull on the same rope with unrelenting force if they are going to win this thing...
