Another Step Closer...Sox Win 3-0 Over Royals (Game 155, '08)
As I watched in Soldier Field the Bears give up yet another game late, losing to the Buccaneers 27-24, the White Sox were getting some good work done against the Royals. It has been said by many Paul Konerko will have to matter for the White Sox to do anything special this season. Like a true Captain and veteran, Konerko has answered the bell late. Better late than never I say. His two-run shot was ultimately not necessary, but it was good insurance in what was then a tight 1-run game. While watching the closing of Yankee Stadium, I was amused and very pleased with an MLB postseason commercial about the White Sox. It featured Dye and AJ, talking about the way the Sox mash the ball and own the base paths. It ended with the saying, something to the effect of..."If you wanna get to the postseason, you've gotta get your socks dirty." I loved it. The Sox appear to be closing in, with a magic number down to 5, but nothing is done yet. I think realistically a sweep will not happen, and even two out of three is a stretch. What must NOT happen is to get swept in Minnesota. The Sox will have a day to rest before the biggest week of the season by far...
As Hawk likes to say..."Get ready and strap it down!"
