White Sox Sweep Mariners Out of Town With 15-3 Win (Game 127, '08)
The Chicago White Sox have been on a roll, to put it mildly. They have been bashing the ball, scoring 55 runs over their last four games, and 31 in their series against Seattle. And while Ozzie would have liked Gavin Floyd to have gone deeper in the ballgame than 6 innings, he still pitched well enough to get the win, allowing just three earned runs.
The Sox will have to face the Rays, who have been pretty easy for the Sox to handle well at home in the past, but this is a different Rays team. So different they now lead the American League East by 4 1/2 games. I think it's safe to say by now - the Rays are not a fluke. It is astounding what that team has done this year. And while some may think what has been going on on the North side has been the best story in baseball, I think the Rays are most remarkable considering where they have come from. This perennial last-place team is giving the World Champs a run for their money, and it looks like the Yankees will not even make the playoffs. All the more reason the White Sox will have to play exceptional baseball this coming weekend. This should have the feel of playoff baseball. This is a test for the White Sox. We will see if they pass the test after this weekend...
