Sox Win Again Behind Strong Danks With 5-1 Victory Over Tigers (Game 113, '08)

All victories count the same in the standings.  As long as you have at least one more run than the opposition, you get the win.  Still, I prefer to see the Sox win behind strong starting pitching, as the White Sox did tonight.  John Danks was outstanding tonight.  The kind of start he made tonight is the kind the Sox will need more often than not from now until the end of the season.  John Danks has become much more efficient lately, throwing just 98 pitches tonight.  His changeup was excellent, and this great Tigers offense looked like they were not guessing right, as Sheffield continued to pull pitches foul along the left field line.  If Danks can keep that changeup down and command his fastball, he could soon become at least the staff co-ace with Buehrle.

The defense of Juan Uribe was fantastic, and he is the guy I want at third base before Fields or even Crede at this point, even when Crede comes back.  It's hard to believe I'm saying that, but Uribe has been the best of the three defensively from what my eyes tell me.  I'm glad to see Konerko looking much better at the plate, with another hit tonight and a key walk.  All these 'little' things are not so little, because they ultimately contribute to the ultimate 'big' thing every team is trying to accomplish - a playoff berth.
