Danks, Jenks Strong in 2-1 Win Over A's (Game 123, '08)
The Sox got enough offense to win, but they left 13 runners on base in their victory. Racking up 11 hits resulting in just 2 runs is hard to believe. But this is the way the Sox have been offensively most of the year. The White Sox are pretty good at creating opportunities for themselves, but not good at all cashing them in. This, combined with their 90 errors on the season, with Swisher dropping a ball that was in his glove on a routine fly ball is why this race is so tight in the American League Central between the White Sox and the Twins. The Twins are more defensively sound than the White Sox, and they are among the best of all teams in executing in the clutch. The Sox pitching, with Danks being outstanding once again, followed by Jenks outstanding effort to close out the game are what have kept them in this think in spite of their shaky defense and inconsistent offense.
