More White Sox Hot Stove... More Rumors
I was reading the 'Hot Stove' report on mlb.com. I was pleased to hear the White Sox are no longer quite as high on Uribe as they once were. I suppose only time will tell. Uribe made some spectacular plays in '05 in particular, but his hitting is so erratic and this season he suddenly had problems often throwing the ball accurately. All this before his legal trouble in the Dominican. I'm not sure the current status of that, but I would not be shocked nor upset if the Sox cut him loose regardless of his off-field situation. We simply need more production at the bottom of the order, and if one of those bottom-of-the order guys is Brian Anderson or another rookie, I don't think the Sox can afford to keep him in the lineup. Too many automatic outs.
What I read was the possibility of the White Sox acquiring Alex Gonzalez for about 5 mil per season, and also the possitility of getting Irvin Santana from the Angels for Freddy Garcia. I can remember when the White Sox faced Santana in the past. He was pretty darn tough on them. If we could get the 24 year-old right hander, that would be a good acquisition I think. Still, it is just a rumor as so much is this time of year.
